Finding Your Way Around Your New School

Your new school will be larger and more spread out than the one you are presently at. Here are some suggestions that might help you to find your way around.
  • Visit your new school and spend time walking around. Make sure you identify major landmarks.
  • When visiting ask for a map. Most schools have them available.
  • Once you have been assigned a home-room, use your free times to practice getting to it from other places in the school.
  • For homework prepare a plan for the next day. That way you will be able to anticipate any possible difficulties.
  • Give yourself plenty of time if you have somewhere new to go to.
  • Team up with a friend if you are having trouble finding your way around.
  • If you get lost don't be afraid to ask an older student or teacher for help.
  • Look for signs and maps around the school that will point you in the right direction.
